Helena, Mont. (KTVH) – During Monday night’s meeting, Helena city commissioners approved phase two of the quiet zone project.

Under the $75,000 contract in this phase, the consultant will provide design and bidding services for the six approved intersections, along with the safety measures.

The crossings include Carter Drive, Roberts Street and Montana Avenue. Ron Alles, the Helena city manager, said once the design is complete, commissioners will meet again to vote on it early next year.

“Sometimes the train comes through town at three in the morning, five in the morning, or even during the daytime. While for some folks it doesn’t bother them, for some folks it does,” Alles said.
