(MTN News-HELENA)  A local high school student is following the yellow brick road to Chicago.  Helena High senior Savannah Smith warms up her vocals before her big trip to the Windy City where she will be auditioning for colleges.

It is called a unified audition where all of the colleges where Savannah wants to get into.

The rising star has been part of several plays at the Grandstreet Theater in Helena, but playing one character has been her all time favorite.

“I was Wednesday Adams in the Adams Family a couple years ago,” said Helena High Senior Savannah Smith.

This actress’s love of the theater goes beyond the stage over looking the audience.

“I started doing backstage work when I was a sophomore. I got the holistic view of theater and realized that there are not just jobs actors but musicians and business men,” added Smith.

As Smith looks to Chicago for the next steps in her acting she plans on one day taking a bite out of New York City.

“The dream is Broadway, but I would be happy doing theater anywhere,” said Smith.
