(MTN News-BUTTE) Butte Coroner Lee LeBreche identified the victims of Monday morning’s murder/Suicide in Butte as 41-year-old Keith Peck and 36-year-old Amanda Peck.

The couple was found dead in their home at 1819 Oregon Ave.just after 8 a.m. Monday from gunshot wounds. Butte police suspect Keith Peck shot Amanda Peck in the chest with a high-powered rifle, before shooting himself in the head.

Police report Keith Peck called 911 and told the dispatcher he had just shot his wife and she was dead, before the call became disconnected.


It was a chilling call to 911 on Monday morning.

Butte Police say a man called to say he had just shot and killed his wife. He then fatally shot himself.

Police quickly responded to his home on Oregon Ave. just after 8 a.m. to find a 36-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Butte Sheriff Ed Lester said Police don’t know what led to the violence.

“Our investigation at the scene indicates that the male had shot his wife, then contacted our dispatch center and then shortly after contacting our dispatch center, turned the weapon on himself,” said Lester. “The weapon involved was a high-powered hunting rifle.”

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notifications of relatives.
