(MTN NEWS-GREAT FALLS) The Grace Home Veterans Center, located at 2211 5th Avenue North, is hosting a grand opening this weekend.
Grace Home organizers say there’s a big need for this type of housing in north-central Montana.
Gateway donated the home to Society of St. Vincent de Paul late last year.
Since then, they have been getting the home ready for veterans to live in as a transitional facility.
“Active duty military contributed 2,000 volunteers hours, just active duty. That does not count the thousands of hours of citizens who came to trim trees and to clean up derby. People across the community, across all sectors, really have given up themselves,” said Deb Kottel of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
On Saturday at 2 p.m., there will be a flag ceremony and speakers to commemorate the opening of Grace Home.
There will also be tours of the home as they celebrate all the hard work that went into putting the project together.
