HELENA – Firefighters were again able to limit the growth of the Alice Creek Fire.
The fire grew by just over 320 acres on Wednesday but is still zero percent contained. The fire has burned a total of 22,471 acres.
Despite the lack of growth, temperatures are creeping up and the area remains very dry.
An inversion over the fire area has also limited the use of aircrafts to the late afternoons and can prevent the fire area from cooling down significantly overnight.
Firefighters have contained a 50-acre spot fire between Tom’s Gulch and Alice Creek.
All current evacuations and pre-evacuations remain in place.
