KALISPELL – Authorities have issued an evacuation warning for Apgar Village and West Glacier due to the Sprague Fire.

A predicted weather change later Wednesday, and its potential effects on fire behavior has prompted the Flathead County Sheriff, Glacier National Park officials and the Incident Management Team to issue the evacuation warning.

The new warning covers areas within Glacier National Park, including Apgar Campground and Apgar Village. Parts of West Glacier, including West Glacier Village, the Highline Boulevard neighborhood, the Golf Course neighborhood, the Wild River Drive and Grouse Ridge Road neighborhood and west toward Sloan Lane neighborhood.

Sheriff’s deputies and park rangers are going door-to-door issuing notices to all residents. Residents and visitors are advised to prepare for evacuation.

The earlier mandatory evacuation order in Glacier National Park remains in effect.

The Sprague Fire has burned 14,795 acres and is 60 percent contained.
