SEELEY LAKE – The final evacuation order for residents living near the Rice Ridge Fire was lifted Tuesday morning.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday that after conferring with the incident management team, it has been decided to downgrade zone 5 in Seeley Lake from evacuation order to evacuation warning.

This last zone is the area north of the airport and is adjacent to Seeley Lake, but technically in Powell County and affects approximately six homes. All of Seeley Lake is still under an evacuation warning while evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect in Powell County.

At last check, the Rice Ridge Fire had burned nearly 140,000 acres since being sparked by lightning north of Seeley Lake on July 24.
