GREAT FALLS – A Great Falls man pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to killing his wife.
Roy Edward Scott, pleaded not guilty to two different charges he faces: deliberate homicide or negligent homicide.
Scott appeared in Cascade County District Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Last year, Scott was charged with deliberate homicide but prosecutors added the negligent homicide charge. This will allow a jury to decide which charge fits if Scott is found guilty.
Scott claimed that he restrained his wife Stephanie Wells for several minutes during an argument.
Autopsy reports revealed that Wells died from blunt force trauma and compression of the neck.
Scott’s trial has been set for Nov. 13.
