MISSOULA – Authorities have released the names of the two people whose bodies were found in the basement of a Strand Avenue home in August.
Missoula County Sheriff TJ McDermott has identified the victims as Missoula residents Marilyn Pickett, 15, and Jackson Wiles, 24. The bodies had been placed into plastic tubs filled with chemicals. An initial investigation indicated that Pickett and Wiles died from stab wounds.
Their bodies were found on Aug. 17 when police arrived at the home with a search warrant in connection with a reported “home invasion burglary/stabbing” that occurred on July 23.
Two suspects, identified as Tiffanie Pierce, 23, and Augustus Standingrock, 26 were taken into custody in connection with the murders. Bond for the two suspects was set at $2 million.
The Montana Department of Justice had issued a Missing/Endangered Person Advisory for Pickett on Aug. 17, saying that she had last been seen in the company of Wiles.
The Sheriff’s Office posted the following message on Facebook: “Members of our office worked closely with the Montana State Crime lab in order to be sure the two individuals were positively identified. This was an extremely difficult call for everyone involved and as a department our hearts are broken for those affected, especially the families of Jackson and Marilyn. Please keep them in your thoughts as they try to find healing.”
