PHILIPSBURG – A mandatory evacuation order in the Moose Lake area near the Meyers Fire has been lifted.
However, the Frog Pond area is still under a mandatory evacuation order. The Billie Springer Memorial and Bonanza subdivisions remain under an evacuation warning. An evacuation warning is also still in effect in the East Fork Road area in Ravalli County.
The Meyers Fire has burned over 62,000 acres located approximately 25 miles southwest of Philipsburg.
Fire managers reported the Carpp Creek drainage on the eastern side of the blaze remains a priority. The spot fires on the north side of Carp Creek were kept in check by helicopters using bucket drops on Wednesday.
Private property and structures in the Moose Lake, Frog Pond, Billie Springer Memorial Park, Bonanza Lands, Senate Mountain, Ross Fork, East Fork and Georgetown Lake areas, as well as other scattered dwellings, may still be at risk from the Meyers fire.
There are 311 people assigned to battle the lightning sparked blaze.
