BOZEMAN – A lightning-caused fire started Sunday has scorched 30 acres in the Crazy Mountains.

The Blacktail Fire on Forest Service land in Meagher County is making a run in rugged terrain and is putting up a smoke column that can be seen for miles.

Fire officials said there is no threat to Park County at this time.

Smoke jumpers are on the scene, located east of Loco Mountain. A helicopter has also been assigned to the fire.

There is reportedly numerous snags and dead/down trees fueling the fire, making a challenge for firefighters.

Officials are asking the public not to report to dispatch, they are receiving many calls about the fire.
