HELENA- A Helena suspect pleads guilty to a casino robbery earlier this year.
In Lewis and Clark district court Wednesday Theodore Dodge plead guilty to robbing the Best Bet Casino on July 23rd and guilty to burglarizing a Helena storage unit the day before.
Investigators say Dodge acted as a lookout at the entrance of the casino holding a plastic sawed-off shotgun when Thomas Hansen robbed the establishment and an employee of more than $600.00
The 39-year-old Dodge was picked up after he tried to cash a casino cash-out ticket the day after the robbery.
During a search, law enforcement officers found evidence from a storage unit burglary on July 14th. Surveillance video from that crime led officers to ID and arrest Hansen.
Both Dodge and Hansen tested positive for meth at the time of their arrests.
Judge Mike Menahan sentenced Dodge to 40 years in the Montana State Prison with 35 years suspended on the robbery charge. The judge then sentenced Dodge to 20 years in prison with 15 years suspended on the burglary charge.
The judge ordered both sentences to be served concurrently, resulting in a five-year prison term along with extensive probation.
Dodge has prior convictions for forgery, theft, and burglary.
Court records say Hansen has also agreed to plead guilty to robbery and burglary.
A sentencing date in the case has not be scheduled.
