HELENA – Fish, wildlife and parks is looking for information related to a Townsend area poaching case.

Wardens say two elk were found on private property just east of Canyon Ferry Reservoir on Oct. 15.

Investigators found a badly decayed bull elk and a cow elk that appeared to have been killed a few days prior.

Witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots the evening of Oct. 11.

FWP says at the time there was no legal season in place for rifle hunting elk.
