HELENA- A Helena suspect is accused of strangling and beating a pregnant victim.
Charging documents say after cutting wood Sunday, Michael Paul Taylor allegedly came to the victim’s home drunk. An argument followed when Taylor refused to leave the residence.
Law enforcement officers say the 34-year-old Taylor became angry and shoved the victim to the floor where he allegedly climbed on top of the pregnant victim and strangled her.
The victim said she was having trouble breathing while she scratched and punched Taylor in an effort to get him off of her.
Taylor is then accused of kicking the victim in the back where she fell to the floor again where Taylor allegedly punched her several times in the face and forehead.
The victim told officers it felt like she was fighting for her life.
Bond in the case has been set at $10,000.
The maximum penalty for felony strangulation is five years in prison and a $50,000. Taylor has also been charged with first offense partner or family member assault.
