GREAT FALLS- The public hearings on the Madison Food Park have been postponed until further notice.
According to the Cascade County Planning Division, the applicant is in the process of amending the application for the site and facility.
The 3,000 acre facility will be located about 8.3 miles southeast of Great Falls.
The park will include food processing for cattle, pigs, and chickens.
It would also incorporate facilities for the processing of milk and cheese products, as well as a distillery for the grain needed for Montana-branded spirits.
Developers expect the plant to create around 3,000 jobs, along with up to 85 supporting jobs in surrounding communities.
Supporters says the plant would provide more competition and reduce freight costs for producers.
Opponents concerns include a high turnover rate, more traffic odor issues, and decreased property values.
We will update you as we get more information about the application.
