HELENA – It’s that time of year again, Thanksgiving prep is underway.

Many people in the Helena area are in need of assistance during the holiday season, so the Lewis and Clark Library and the Helena Food Share have teamed up for the annual Turkey Challenge.

The Helena Food Share will distribute nearly 2,000 turkeys during November and December for Thanksgiving and Christmas and they are in need of roughly 1,500 turkeys to meet their goal.

On Friday, the Library will host the Turkey Challenge event from 9:30 a.m to 5 p.m. Frozen turkeys between 10 and 12 pounds can be dropped off and will be donated to the Food Share. The event is for one day only. If you don’t want to donate a turkey, the Library will take monetary donations. For $25 you can provide a holiday meal for a local family.

The Food Share will distribute the turkeys on Monday, Nov. 20.

The Library’s Facebook page will track the donations for those who wish to watch the countdown until the 1,500 goal is reached. The page will have a live feed and regular updates throughout the day.
