TOWNSEND – Better Vision Better Hope, a free vision clinic, set up shop in Townsend Sunday morning.

Those who attended met with an optometrist to get their eyes examined.

The appointments determined if glasses were needed while also screening for eye problems like glaucoma or dry eye. The clinic dispensed free prescription glasses and the optometrists educated attendees of proper eye care.

Better Vision Better Hope, a nonprofit, travels all over the U.S. to provide free eye exams.

Tasha Schellenberg, an optometrist with the nonprofit, said she loves what she does- helping those with their eyesight. Schellenberg recalled one man in particular who thanked her.

“He was so touched, he said ‘you have no idea what you’ve done’ he said ‘you know I’ve been wearing these glasses for a number of years and I have not been able to get the money together to get a pair of glasses so I can see’,” said Schellenberg.

On the clinic will offer a free clinic in Helena at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 2410 Belt View Drive beginning at 11 a.m. and going until 7 p.m.
