HELENA – One the two finalists for dean of Helena college has withdrawn from consideration and the current search for a new dean has closed without a successful candidate.

According to a news release from the candidate who withdrew, Dr. VernLundquistt has chosen to pursue another career opportunity. Lundquist is currently the Dean of Faculty and Chief Academic Officer of Richard Bland College of William & Mary in Virginia.

The second candidate, Dr. Dave Ferreira Associate Provost of the Georgetown Campus at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, visited campus and attended discussions with students, faculty and staff.

A release from the college said the search committee discussed their current option of Dr. Ferreria and chose to close the search.

The Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education,  Clayton Christian, will announce the next steps.
