HELENA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Helena ‘Bowl for Kids’ Sake’ raised almost double compared to last year.
The group’s annual Helena fundraiser brought in $83,000 last weekend.
Organizers say a large portion of the money raised will go towards staffing.
BBBS Helena told MTN News that there is an extensive process, with background checks, to make sure children are safe.
A fun fact that Claire O’Connell, BBBS Helena Office Manager, shared about Saturday and Sunday’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake is that 1,400 pizza slices were eaten.
“We have matches that come every year and they get better at bowling. My own children who used to not know how to bowl, they came yesterday and they know how to bowl now. Everybody just did a little bit more this year and it was a lot of fun,” said O’Connell.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Helena reports they have over 30 children who are still waiting to be matched.
