HELENA – Lewis & Clark Brewing Company in Helena is now accepting cryptocurrency to purchase beer.
Customers can use the Bitcoin Cash app to buy growlers at the brewery.
Customers scan a QR code with the app that will allow for the transfer of funds between them and the brewery.
In addition to being able to accept cryptocurrency as payment, the brewery also released their “Bitcoin Bitter” beer. The beer is a traditional English bitter style using Montana-grown and malted barley.
For a limited time, the growler price for the beer will actually fluctuate depending on the current value of bitcoin.
The cost can be as low as $2.50 or as high as $10 for a growler fill.
Brewery owner Max Pigman says that this is a fun way to connect to the craziness that is currently going on with Bitcoin.
“This is a great way for us to kind of try out cryptocurrency and a great way for people to educate themselves on it,” said Pigman.
Pigman added that to his knowledge, Lewis & Clark is the first brewery in the country to accept cryptocurrency for beer.
