UPDATE 01/31/2018: Helena Police say a 15-year-old and a 14-year old have been charged after a Tuesday fire at the 7th Ave. Gym.

According to police, officers responded to reports individuals breaking windows at the building just before 6:30 p.m.

Officers learned of the fire while on scene and alerted the fire department. Police say the 14-year-old was arrested for arson, burglary, and criminal mischief. The 15-year-old was arrested for burglary and criminal mischief.

Officials have not released a damage estimate at this time.

HELENA – Reports of smoke at the Seventh Avenue Gym near downtown Helena sent crews from the Helena Fire Department scrambling to the scene.

According to acting Fire Marshal Lou Antonick, crews responded with two fire engines to the building around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters responded and did locate a fire and were able to quickly extinguish it.

No signs of damage were visible to the outside of building. What caused the fire is still under investigation.

The Helena Police Department was also on scene at the fire and Antonick said two people of interest that were in the area are being questioned.
