HELENA – Regardless of your relationship status on Valentine’s Day, everyone can appreciate some chocolate.

The Parrot Confectionery in downtown Helena was preparing for Valentine’s Day at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, packaging hundreds of boxes of assorted chocolates.

Cashier Abigail Dronen said Valentine’s Day rivals Christmas and Easter as the busiest time of the year for the store. On Wednesday, nuts and chews and dark chocolate were all big hits with customers.

Dronen said 300 to 400 boxes of assorted chocolates were prepared just for Wednesday and as of this Wednesday afternoon, all of those prepared boxes had been sold. Dronen also said the prepackaged Valentine’s Day heart boxes were quite popular.

“It’s been pretty busy. Everybody’s pretty much coming in last minute to get their stuff. I think yesterday was a bit busier than today because everyone is rushing to make sure they have everything that they need, so we pretty much sold out of everything,” Dronen said.

Dronen said the Confectionery has already started working on its bunny candies in anticipation of Easter.
