HELENA – The last business remaining in Helena’s Capital Hill Mall will stay open for the time being.
This week, Town Pump opened new Lucky Lil’s and Montana Lil’s casinos on Prospect Avenue – just across the street from the mall, where the company operates another Lucky Lil’s location.
Town Pump representatives said Tuesday their lease for the casino in the mall extends for another three years, and they intend to keep operating there.
The rest of the mall has been vacant since last July, when J.C. Penney closed its doors.
Kimball Investment Company, based in Salt Lake City, has owned the 13-acre mall since 2016.
David Kimball said the company is still trying to decide what to do with the property. He said Lucky Lil’s decision to stay won’t affect their eventual plans for redeveloping the mall.
Kimball said his company may decide to split the mall property in two, leaving a building on one parcel and creating a more open development on the other.
