HELENA – A suspect with a history of burglary is back behind bars again.
Jason Brandon Bennetts was arrested Monday afternoon, after witnesses say they saw him break into a residence on the 1200 block of Washington Street.
Charging documents say Bennetts allegedly broke through two doors to gain entrance to the building.
A witness who saw the break-in told her mother to call 9-1-1. Bennetts then allegedly fled the area.
He was arrested a short time later.
A resident of the home told law officers she believed Bennetts had stolen items from her before.
Bennetts has three prior convictions for burglary and prosecutors say he’s also under investigation for stealing a gun.
Bond in the case has been set at $40,000.00. He’ll be arraigned next month.
