HELENA – The Lewis and Clark Humane Society recently received a surprise $3,000 grant from Miranda Lambert’s Mutt-nation Foundation.

The grant was provided to one shelter in each state that stood out for the work they do.

The money will go to providing care for the animals at the shelter and support shelter programs.

Humane Society Development Director Kelsee Dalton says that the grant came as a big surprise to the organization.

“It’s really cool to know that our shelter in a small town in rural Montana was able to get that kind of attention,” says Dalton.

Dalton added that monetary donations are always the best way to support the shelter but they also need volunteers to help clean cages, walk and play with the animals.

The Humane Society will also be hosting their 17th annual Spay-ghetti Dinner at the end of March at the Civic Center. Tickets are currently available at the Humane Society.

Every animal shown in this story is available for adoption at the shelter as of Feb 28th, 2018.
