Lewis and Clark Library kicks off 150th Anniversary celebration

HELENA – The Lewis and Clark Library is officially kicking off their 150th anniversary celebration today.

Library patrons were treated to a special story time this morning and a Lunch and learn program where historian Ellen Baumler discussed the history of the library over its century and a half of operation.

Community members have also been making valentines cards all this month saying why they love their library. The cards are posted throughout the library and the bookmobile has been turned into a photo booth for the event.

Library Director John Finn says that this was a great way to kick off the celebration and honor those who make the library a great place to read, enjoy programs and take classes.

Finn added that this was just the beginning of the events they have planned this year.

“We have things going on in April and May but our big birthday bash is going to be Friday June 22nd,” says Finn, “We’re going to utilize the walking mall and the parks all around the library and do a full day of events.”
