A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for most of Montana into Thursday morning.  Highway 89 from St. Mary through Browning to Dupuyer remains closed after heavy winds created significant drifting which is taking time to clear.  Severe driving conditions continue on I-15 from Shelby to Sunburst.  Many of Montana’s highways and interstates are experiencing snow cover with reduced visibility.  This will continue tonight into Thursday morning.  Temperatures will drop into the 0s for most of the state by Thursday morning, with highs only topping out in the 0s and 10s.  There will be more sunshine spreading across the state by Thursday afternoon.  Friday, a new storm will move in with wind and snow for a lot of western Montana.  Blowing snow will be an issue over the mountain passes.  Presidents’ Day Weekend will be very snowy throughout the state, travel will be difficult in the snow, wind, and falling temperatures.  Arctic high pressure will push the snow out but temperatures could fall to near -20 in some parts of the state Monday night.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
