HELENA – The Myrna Loy is now taking applications for its Grants to Artists program.
The program offers individual grants to working artists of any genre who live in Jefferson, Broadwater or Lewis and Clark County.
For over four decades the program has provided thousands of dollars in grant money and in-kind support for dozens of local artists. Helena born American fiction writer Maile Meloy was a recipient of the grant when she was first starting out.
Applicants are asked to keep their submissions concise and to the point. Grant recipients will also need to be able to complete their work by June 30th, 2019 and share their work in some public fashion.
Myrna Loy Executive Director Krys Holmes says that supporting local artists like this is the best part of her job.
“It is so much fun to be able to tell a small group of artists or a couple artists we really believe in your work,” says Homes, “We may not have a whole lot of money to help you out but we’re going to give you what we can to encourage you to complete this project and get it out in the world.”
Holmes added that she’s proud to continue the tradition of supporting local arts and this is one of the few programs in the region to provide direct funding to individual artists.

The deadline for submissions is 5:00pm on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018.
