HELENA – Crews responded to a water main break near the intersection of North Raleigh Street and 9th Avenue around 11 a.m. Monday morning.
According to Kevin Hart, Helena’s utilities maintenance superintendent, a caller reported the break around 7 a.m. Monday.
The city has crews on the scene and is working to repair the main, which suffered a “circumferential break” in which cracks form around the entire circumference of the water main.
As of 3 p.m., about two blocks of 9th were without water service. According to Hart, crews hope to have the main repaired and service restored around 5 p.m. Monday. Hart believes the break may be weather related.
In the mean time, 9th Street is closed between N. Raleigh and N. Hoback.
