GREAT FALLS – Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Sun River Road on Tuesday evening.

According to GFFR, the people who made the report originally thought the roof was on fire.

GFFR arrived on scene with three engines and a command vehicle. Crews were able to stop the fire in the attic space, preventing the flames from reaching the main portion of the house.

The Montana Air National Guard was called in to assist.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A GFFR official said crews will likely be on scene for a while as clearing the attic is labor intensiv
