#ArcticAutumn Continues With Little Moderation

Brrr! This weather is more typical of January than late October. Tuesday was an extremely cold day with morning lows in the -0s and 0s, and some of the coldest locations were between -10 and -20. Highs in the afternoon only warmed into the 10s and 20s. This cold pattern will modify slightly over the next few days but overall temperatures will remain below normal through the weekend. Wednesday will start out very cold again with early morning temperatures in the -0s and 0s, while the coldest locations will be in the -10s. Wednesday will be slightly warmer and sunny, highs will top out in the 20s and 30s. Thursday, Halloween is looking a little spooky as a cold front will move into the state with snow showers. The front is weak but widespread snow showers are likely across northcentral and northeast Montana. A light accumulation up to an inch is possible through the afternoon and evening. Because of the cloud cover, darkness will settle in earlier in the evening at approximately 6:30-6:45 so please use caution if you're driving at that time as some little ghosts and gobblins may be difficult to see. A few snow showers will continue into Friday morning and will clear by afternoon. The first weekend of November will be slightly warmer with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Don't forget to set your clocks back on Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time ends. Another cold front will move into the state late on Sunday with more snow that will accumulate several inches into Monday morning. This pattern of snow and colder than normal temperatures could linger into the middle of November.
