GREAT FALLS – The YWCA celebrated the completion of upgrades to their downtown Great Falls location.
The YWCA received a Great Falls Development Block Grant and a Great Falls Development Authority Brownfield Grant for the upgrades.
“We had mold in our walls from a sprinkler system that did not work. We had asbestos tiles from the building being built 65 years ago,” Sandi Filipowicz, YWCA Executive Director, said.
Since the building was originally dormitories, they took sinks out of closet areas and re-purposed some of the spaces during the remodel.
Community members could tour the facility to see the new flooring and added space.
“We have two new rooms downstairs so we can do programming. We will be doing Zumba classes, yoga classes, and hopefully Taekwondo,” Filipowicz said.
They also have a new neon sign for the front of the building.
