HELENA — Businesses along the Last Chance Gulch opened their doors this Friday for extended hours for the monthly “First Friday” art walk.

Participating businesses like Aizada Imports give customers a chance to check-out what’s on sale and see the latest inventory.

The owner, Paula Halverson, who has owned her ethically produced fair-trade store for six years, started “First Friday” with a few other local business owners two years ago.

Customers who visit shops who are participating in “First Friday” get to see not only new inventory, but sales promoted specifically on each first Friday of the month.

Halverson told MTN about how she often serves her guests wine and hot cocoa during the cooler, winter months.

“The idea is to get everyone walking around and downtown and socializing and walking around; going in and out of the stores....it can be very weather-related, the success of it, but sometimes in the winter is when it's nicest because it's an excuse you know, it's something to do and get out see your friends and meet up for a glass of wine,” said Halverson.

For those who are interested, the next “First Friday,” will be on November 1 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
