HELENA — The Lewis and Clark Library are hosting author, and MTN Chief Political reporter, Mike Dennison at Helena College on Thursday Jan. 16 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss his new book.

“Inside Montana Politics: A Reporter’s View from the Trenches” covers some of Montana’s biggest political stories and figures in the last 30 years.

Each chapter covers a defining political figure or topic, such as Marc Racicot, Jon Tester and the fall of Montana Power.

Lewis and Clark County Commission Chair Susan Good Geise had a front seat to many of the events detailed in the book, having served in the legislature, as the head of the Montana Republican Party and chief policy adviser for the Public Service Commission.

She also proudly served as the librarian of the Augusta Library.

Geise described the book as great read that is a scrupulous portrayal of the events documented.

“Mike’s clarity and his experience really shows through,” said Geise. “The interesting part about Dennison’s book reflects how closely he was watching and how intuitive he was about people.”

Geise described Dennison meticulously fair as a journalist who earned immense credibility among both Republicans and Democrats for his accurate reporting.

“The chapter about Governor Marc Racicot, I had worked closely with [Racicot] on a number of close issues, and worked my heart out to get him elected,” said Geise. “Some of the things in this book may have come as a surprise to a lot of people, because Marc Racicot is one of the most charismatic figures in Montana politics.”
