HELENA — Meet Poppy! She is the humane society's longest-term cat.

She has been there for over two months, so she is more than ready to find a forever home.

Staff say she will easily adjust into the rhythm of a new home- they've already seen it happen first hand.

When Poppy first moved into the cat room, it only took about half an hour before she felt completely at home.

Poppy would be just as happy being the only cat or with other cats.

There is only one thing that Miss Poppy does not tolerate - dogs.

Cat program coordinator Katie Axline-Pittman says that this is a big reason why she has been at the shelter for so long.

"She's a pretty sweet and social kitty," said Axline-Pittman, "She's pretty laid-back and easygoing, too, which is pretty nice. She does really, really well in the cat room, people see her and they say hi, and they greet her, but once they find out that she cannot go with dogs, then it shuts off completely."

It's time for Poppy to go home! She is just one year old, and she would be a great addition for any dog-free home.

You can visit her at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 6pm, or Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from noon to 4:30pm.
