A reminder that spring rain brings flood potential to Montana.

In Lewis and Clark County, leaders are urging people to prepare, especially during the pandemic.

Public health leaders say people should always avoid contact with floodwater when possible.

That's because it can contain pathogens and be contaminated with sewage and wastewater.

Public health says Covid-19 has been detected in wastewater in other areas of the country.

Though we don't know if the virus is transmitted through contaminated wastewater, it's smart to avoid contact and wash your hands after exposure to floodwater.
