What a cold morning across the state, feeling more like January than April. While no record lows were set, below zero temperatures in the beginning of April are pretty cold. High temperatures weren't much better, holding in the 10s and 20s for most of the state. There is warmer air on the way as the arctic high pressure retreats. Friday will be a warmer day with highs reaching the 30s and 40s. After a sunny start, clouds will increase as the next storm system moves in. Snow showers will develop over the western mountains in the afternoon, and will continue through the evening and overnight. There a chance of a few inches of accumulation in the mountains but the lower elevations will not see as much snow as earlier in the week. The weekend will be warmer with partly cloudy skies and highs in the 30s and 40s on Saturday. Some light snow is possible on Saturday night but Sunday will become partly cloudy with just a few mixed rain and snow showers. HIghs will be in the 40s to around 50. Monday will be mostly cloudy with some showers and higher mountain snow mainly over the southern half of Montana. Highs once again will be in the 40s and 50s. Drier and even warmer air will move in for Tuesday and Wednesday as highs could reach the 60s in parts of Montana. However, another shot of cold air and snow is possible next weekend.
Have a great day. Stay healthy.
