A decade-long project in Judith Basin County is now complete

People from all over the county met at the new free library in Stanford to celebrate its completion on Saturday.

The new library has different rooms for adults, tweens, and children as well as a small kitchen area.

The old library only had two rooms and the library director said the community really stepped up to make the dream of a new library a reality.

“It is unbelievable to come from our little county,” Jeanne Lillegard said. “You know, the county that doesn’t have a stoplight in the entire county and that we were able to pull a project off like this.”

The actual construction and remodeling of the library took less than two years.

Over the past ten years, several fundraisers were held to raise $1 million for the library.

The library is located at 93 3rd Street North and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
