HELENA – About 100 Special Olympics athletes competed in the Tri-County Area track meet on Sunday in Helena at Vigilante Stadium.

There were 23 events including the 10-meter assisted walk, turbo javelin, standing long jump, and a motorized wheelchair obstacle course.

Special Olympics Montana is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides sports training and athletic competition for the intellectually-disabled.

Athlete Cody Kuhlman said he participated in basketball and track and enjoyed the event; “having fun meeting new friends, having fun, and having a fun time.”

Law Enforcement Torch Run shirts were sold at the competition with the proceeds supporting Special Olympics Montana.
