GREAT FALLS – Medicaid was the topic of discussion at a roundtable event at Benefis Health System on Monday.

Montana Governor Steve Bullock listened to some people who explained how the Medicaid Expansion Program has helped them personally benefit from it.

Bullock said the program is not only good for the people, but also the economy.

“Individual lives are changed by having healthcare and the vast majority of folks on this are actually working in our communities, are our friends and our neighbors,” he said. “It’s important so people don’t wait until having to go to the emergency room where the care is most expensive, they can actually get preventive care.”

He said uncompensated care, which are costs those with insurance have been carrying for those without, has dropped 45 percent.
