BUTTE – Butte police are taking donations and getting ready to run in support of Montana Special Olympics.

Officers were on Harrison Avenue Tuesday morning receiving donations from passing motorists for the Special Olympics that begins next week in Great Falls. Officers and volunteers will also be participating in the torch run between Whitehall and Butte that will be happening Wednesday.

“It goes to Special Olympics, it goes to help pay the cost for the athletes to go to the state games, to participate in local games where ever the money’s needed,” said Butte Crime Prevention Officer Ryan Hardy.

Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics will be May 16 in Great Falls.
