Effective this afternoon, Forestvale Rd and Mill Rd have been closed to thru traffic due to flooding. McHugh Dr has been closed to thru traffic due to flooding. For student safety, afternoon drop-offs have been temporarily changed to the following locations. HELENA – The Lewis and Clark County Emergency Management issued an update on Helena Valley road closures. These closures are due to flooding as of Thursday afternoon:

  • McHugh Drive is closed from Motsiff Road to Rainier Road
  • McHugh Drive is closed to through traffic (non-residents) from Rainier Road to Forestvale Road
  • Forestvale Road is closed to through traffic from Kerr Drive to Carolina Drive
  • Mill Road is closed to through traffic from just west of Hedges Drive to McHugh Drive
  • Sierra Road is open to eastbound traffic only. Westbound traffic can use Center Drive and Shirley Road

Viewer Sue Resch shared this photo with us: “This is what happens when people try to drive around road closed barriers on a flooded road. On McHugh Dr between Motsiff and Mill rd. No reason for anyone to be on this stretch as the only house there is my parents. So please stay away!”

South of Lincoln, Lincoln Volunteer Fire Rescue just posted on their Facebook page:
Stemple is shut down right now at the washout by Gehring Lumber and House Logs. They are doing some repairs and throwing in some culverts to alleviate the problem. Big thanks to the county public works for making it happen. If you need something to do for a bit, head down and fill some sandbags. We are getting quite the operation going.

In Jefferson County, the Road Department has closed Hubbard Lane between Highway 69 and the Red Bridge due to water over the roadway.

Road department officials expect that portion of the road to remain closed for at least a week. Additionally, a portion of Red Rock Road in Bernice remains closed due to water over the roadway. Please DO NOT drive around road closed signs, the life you save could be your own.
