BILLINGS – Montana Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a woman after she fled following an attempted traffic stop.

Capt. Keith Edgell said a trooper attempted to pull a vehicle over after noticing it did not have a front license plate. Once the trooper turned on the headlights, the car began to speed away.

The vehicle continued over the South Billings Boulevard overpass, hitting another vehicle, before finally running into a tree near the corner of South Billings Boulevard and King Avenue East.

Edgell said the female driver and male passenger fled on foot. Troopers were able to catch the man and transport him to the hospital. Authorities are still searching for the woman.

Both suspects have outstanding warrants, and the vehicle they were in was reported stolen out of Hardin, according to Edgell.

No one else was injured.
