BUTTE – A contractor has been chosen to begin removing the Parrot Tailing mine waste in Butte this summer.
The governor announced the MK Weeden Construction of Lewistown was selected over six other bidders for the first phase of the Parrot Waste removal project, which involves moving a century’s worth of mine waste buried off of Civic Center Road near Silver Bow Creek.
MK Weeden had the lowest bid at $2.6 million.
The removal work is expected to begin in June.
