HELENA – St. Peters Health has kicked off their 2018 Pinwheel Pledge Campaign for local cancer care.

Funds raised through the event provide direct assistance to local cancer patients for items not cover by insurance such as wigs and transportation to treatment.

For every contribution to the campaign in honor of cancer survivors or in memory of loved ones, a pinwheel will be displayed at St. Peters.

Cancer survivor Barb Knutson of Helena is serving at the 2018 campaign spokesperson. Knutson was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer is 2017 and successfully completed nine months of treatment at St. Peter’s Health.

Knutson says these donations have a huge impact on those who receive cancer treatment locally.

“[Patients] didn’t ask to have cancer,” says Knutson, “They got to join a club that nobody wants to join and they were able to not have to worry about things if they could not afford them.”

The Pinwheel and Cancer Survivor Celebration will be held at the Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 24 at 5:00 p.m.
