Update: The man who died in a crash Wednesday night has been identified as Jody Lee Laird, 49, of Emigrant.

Park County Coroner Al Jenkins said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The Montana Highway Patrol said Laird was traveling north on Murphy Road, also known as Secondary Highway 571, at 10:15 p.m. when he failed to navigate a left hand curve.

The truck’s right tires left the pavement, causing it to roll down an embankment.

Laird was found near his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.

He was the only person in the vehicle.
