LIVINGSTON – The body of a hiker missing in the Crazy Mountains was located Wednesday afternoon.
Searchers discovered the body of the 39-year-old man who was reported missing on Monday night.
Park County Sheriff’s Office, Park County Search and Rescue, Sweet Grass Sheriff’s Office, and Fish, Wildlife& Parks along with 3 ground teams, 3 dog teams, a horse team and a helicopter had been searching for the man, who was a volunteer for the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance.
The heli-alpine team from Gallatin County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue helped recover the body from a steep rocky chute in Sweet Grass County.
The man had been working on a collaborative project with the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks when he went missing in rugged terrain near the Cave Lake area Monday.
Sweet Grass County Sheriff / Coroner Dan Tronrud will release his identity once all notifications have been made. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
