BUTTE – A Butte police officer was honored by the state’s attorney general Friday for his outstanding work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Attorney General Tim Fox presented Butte police officer Dan Murphy with this year’s Matt Dale Outstanding Advocate of the Year Award. Murphy was praised for going above and beyond his regular police duties in helping domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

“We really do have a profound impact on the victims of these crimes and the better we are at it, the more of a positive impact we can have,” Murphy said.

Murphy’s friends, family, and colleagues were at the ceremony in the rotunda of the Butte Courthouse.
