HAVRE – One year ago, areas along the Hi-Line were hit hard with their first snow of the season.

Josh Miller, a trained weather spotter, says the storm was a crazy start to the winter the Hi-Line witnessed last year.

Miller says it started just like today with the rain but in the midafternoon, the now started.

“The big issue was the on the trees. It started to stick to the grass and the trees. That eventually put a lot of pressure on the branches,” Miller said.

Miller says as the snow increased, branches began to snap and the power went out around Havre. His mother did not have power for a week after the storm hit.

Miller says this storm was the most catastrophic he has ever seen in his lifetime.

“I have never seen anything like it and it was so amazing. The damage was so widespread. There was not a house or a yard missed by a tree or power lines. It seemed like there was damage everywhere,”

Miller says on October 3rd, Havre officially ended up getting 15.75 inches of snow.
