HELENA – A live debate among Montana’s US Senate candidates had been scheduled this Saturday on MTN stations.
But now that the Senate vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is set for that day – the debate sponsored by MTN and Yellowstone Public Radio has been postponed.
Democratic Senator Jon Tester will be on the Senate floor on Saturday, voting on the confirmation – and won’t be able to attend the debate, which had been scheduled in Great Falls that evening.
Tester has said he plans to vote “no” on Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Tester is running for re-election – and is being challenged by Republican Matt Rosendale and Libertarian Rick Breckenridge.
The neck-and-neck race is one of the most-watched Senate contests in the nation.
Rosendale and Tester debated last Saturday in Missoula – and both candidates say they hope to debate again, before the election.
But it remains to be seen, whether the debate can be rescheduled.
MTN also had invited Breckenridge to the debate.
MTN and Yellowstone Public Radio are attempting to reschedule the debate. We’ll let you know if that happens.
